Pinterest allies with WooCommerce: it is now possible to buy through this network

  • by

A not insignificant number of Pinterest users turn to the platform in the early stages of their decision-making process. To find out, to get ideas, to see what is trending, more than 400 million people enter the social network with the intention of buying.

At the end of 2021, the number of pinners who interacted with commercial surfaces had increased by 20%. In addition, according to data from the social network itself, Pinterest users tend to spend 2 times more than users of other platforms, with 85% larger shopping baskets.

For all these reasons, Pinterest has decided to integrate with the WooCommerce e-commerce platform through an extension on the latter platform. The alliance will allow companies of all sizes to synchronize their digital catalogs and turn their products into shoppable pins with information on availability and prices.

Once the extension is installed, the company’s entire product catalog will be uploaded to Pinterest. Buyable Pins will appear in users’ feeds when they search for items to buy, taking them directly to the retailer’s website to complete the checkout process.

The extension will also record customer interactions with sellers’ products: this way, businesses will be able to keep track of their best-selling or most-saved items on Pinterest.

This integration represents a great opportunity both for brands, who will have more sales options, and for Pinterest users, who will be able to discover new brands and products easily and quickly.

New possibilities for traders

Partnering with WooCommerce is part of Pinterest’s commitment to creating new solutions for merchants of all sizes. In its recent Pinterest Presents event, the company already announced various shopping features that will be launched during this year, which continue the company’s pursuit of that goal of becoming a point of reference in internet users’ purchases.

Aleksandra Bettin, VP of Business Development at WooCommerce, said: “By partnering, we’re offering the best integrated Pinterest shopping experience so WooCommerce merchants can be at the forefront of social commerce. At WooCommerce we are very committed to the success of our merchants, who need the right options to reach the right audiences; this integration with Pinterest will help them do that.”

This Pinterest integration with WooCommerce is now available in Spain, Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Slovakia, United States, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta , Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Romania. For their part, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Japan will have access to this integration at the end of this year.
