The number of Instagram users has grown by 20% in the last year in Spain . This means that it already has more users than Facebook -also owned by Meta- according to the VIII edition of the Study on the use of social networks in Spain prepared by The Social Media Family.
The report, which analyzes the behavior of users of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Whatsapp and TikTok in Spain, to contrast it with the activity generated in the 50 most populous cities in the country, ensures that Instagram counted at the end of 2021 with 24 million users , 20% more than the previous year.
This means that, for the first time, it exceeds the number of total Facebook users, which the report sets at 21.7 million. As he points out, this figure was already recorded during the 2015 edition of the report, which means a stagnation in terms of the number of users of the social network in the country.
Along with this data, the study indicates that Facebook followers are getting older. In this sense, 50% of all users are concentrated in the 40 to 64 age bracket.
On the other hand, after four years of stagnation and falls, Twitter users have grown in Spain in the last year, adding 100,000 new tweeters. The trend can be seen above all in the fifty most populous cities in the country, where growth has been 3.83% higher.
For its part, LinkedIn has 15 million profiles in Spain, which represents an increase of 1 million compared to 2020. The “robot portrait” of the LinkedIn user in Spain would be a man, between 25 and 34 years old, with more than 11 years of experience and employed in a company with more than 10,000 workers located in Madrid or Barcelona.
The report also indicates that WhatsApp would be the most used social network in the country, with almost 36 million users: 75% of the population. For its part, the number of TikTok users over 18 in Spain is 15.5 million, although it could reach 19 with minors. The diversification of the profiles in terms of age is worth noting , since 35% of TikTok users in Spain are over 35 years of age.
